The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna (IQOQI-Vienna) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering aPOSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X)(part-time, 25h per week)in the research group “Gravitational Quantum Physics” led by Markus Aspelmeyer (for details please visit: Aspelmeyer Group).The position will be funded by the ERC Synergy Grant Q-Xtreme, a research project jointly with the University of Innsbruck and ETH Zurich to explore the extreme regime of macroscopic quantum superpositions of solids.
Your tasks:Theoretical research in the field of macroscopic quantum physics, in particular the study of noise and decoherence effects in levitated quantum optomechanical systems, as well as the design and theoreticalanalysis of new experimental methods and protocols to generate non-Gaussian quantum states of motion of levitated solidsSupporting the experimental members of the team with analytical and numerical tools for parameter estimations and noise analysisBeing involved in various administrative and academic tasks that involve the collaboration within the ERC Synergy network between Vienna, Innsbruck, and ZurichYour profile:Completed PhD studies in physicsPrevious (independent) research experience and a scientific track record reflecting your level of seniorityExperience in supervising students and writing project proposalsInterested candidates are invited to submit:A detailed curriculum vitae including list of publicationsShort research statementPhD certificateThe electronic (email) contact details of at least two potential refereesWe offer an annual gross salary of € 38.079,13, according to the salary scheme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).Please submit your application documents in one single PDF file to applications-iqoqi@oeaw.ac.at (mentioning the Job ID: IQOQIVIE154PD223).
